We all know that our bodies build up and store toxins over time -- otherwise, detoxes wouldn't exist! With all the toxins floating around -- in the air, makeup, skin care, food -- it's important that we make sure we complete a detox every now and then to help our bodies eliminate the toxin buildup so it can focus on nourishing us and not simply fighting toxins.
It seems as though nearly every woman has a hormonal imbalance. I'm surprised how women are still able to get pregnant! But then again, I personally know several women who needed some type of questionable medical intervention so that they would be able to have a child.
In all honestly, we shouldn't need help. As women, giving birth is one of the major roles our bodies were created to do! It shouldn't be this hard. Thanks to the hectic modern lifestyle, conventional medicine, and food giants, it's easy to fall into hormonal imbalance, sometimes without even realizing it.
How can you tell if your hormones are off?
I see people doing this all the time when they try to set up a healthy plate -- not eating enough, not eating enough protein, not eating enough healthy fats, avoiding fat altogether, eating too many carbs... and the list goes on. There is so much debate on how to set up a healthy plate it's hard to pick just one. But in this post, I'm sharing my personal go-to plate template for my clients and the reasons behind them.
Picture it: snow falling outside, fire burning, you sitting down on a comfortable chair wrapped up in a blanket drinking healthy hot chocolate.
While I don't happen to live in an area that gets a lot of snow, I still very much enjoy sipping on a nice cup of hot chocolate in the winter. Something about hot drinks are so comforting and relaxing -- that warm sensation you get with each sip (or even simply holding your mug) makes you feel at peace.
So if you're on my email list, then you know a couple weeks ago I mentioned how essential oils was my new healthy obsession...! If you're not, that's totally okay! You can get on it by grabbing one (or both) of my freebies >> Real Food Guide and Quick-Start Guide for Balancing Hormones. I've been using essential oils on and off for a few years now, but never actually learned the details of what they were (beyond the basics) and how they work in the body. If you really dig into them, they are pretty nifty and all-around helpful tools in the healthy living sphere.
70-80% of the entire immune system resides in the gut. This is the reason so many health issues stem from problems with poor gut health and the digestive system, autoimmunity included.
When there is a digestive issue such as low HCl, leaky gut, or chronic ingestion of allergenic food, the barriers of the immune system begin to weaken.
Have you ever actually looked at the ingredient label on an electrolyte drink such as Gatorade or Powerade or another "healthy" sports drinks? It may surprise you... (I'll give you hint: the second ingredient is something you usually see offered for dessert!)
Whether it contains glucose, corn syrup, sucrose, or dextrose (all ingredients in various types of sports drinks -- even the low calories ones), it's still a form of sugar!
Most people believe these drinks are good for you since they are so popular among the athletes. But this is far from the truth!
